I’ve been here for one week already. I’m celebrating that by writing this post on my brand new Asus eee laptop and giving you some pictures

MIT Tour: Some things happened today in an orderly fashion. The cable guy showed up when he was supposed to and fixed our internet connection. Now we’re online 24/7! We got a cheap 6-month promotion deal with the cable company for both Internet and basic cable TV (just the regular channels) for half the price of just the internet connection (go wonder!). When the cable guy showed up he didn’t quite understand how we got the cable so he didn’t touch it and left us with the total cable package we already had. For the discounted price. Good deal!

I picked up Tove Lise, my wifes maiden of honor, at South Boston central. She came by train. After bringing her to Cambridge for a good meal we headed off to MIT Campus to catch the free tour. That’s highly recommended! Basically we navigate through campus but there’s some nice stories to be told. Most of them tells us how smart those MIT’ers are (like managing to put a police car on the top of the dome, with a parking ticket in the front window). Amazing.

Cheers: We did our little walk over Harvard bridge to Back Bay of Boston. It’s a fairly long bridge, about 364,4 Smoots and one ear long. I give a price to the first one who figures out how long one Smoot is in meters. Once in Back Bay, through a stop at starbucks, we went through Newbury street and then to Beacon street. You know, the expensive shopping streets of Boston. In beacon street we found the bar Cheers were everybody is supposed to know your name. But they didn’t. Just the facade on the outside was similar to the TV show. The inside was completely different. What a letdown.

Asus eee: When we got back to Cambridge there was a package waiting for me. UPS had been so kind to drop of my brand new laptop. It’s a really small computer running on Linux with no CD rom or floppy disc. It has a 7″ screen, 512 mb memory and 4GB flash disc for storeage. So why did I buy it? Because it weighs less than one kilogram, it’s got wifi and a webcam built in and it’s really cheap: 399 USD or about 2500 nok, This post is therefore written om my brand new asus eee :)

I also got to talk to my wife, Elin, at skype with a web camera. It was really good to see her again. She’s the best girl ever, something the Skype session reminded me of. I miss her!
