Day 8: Pahk the cah at hahvahd yahd
Categories: IssuesThis has been the phrase of the day. It’s a kids example of the Boston accent. However, everybody knows you can’t really park your car at Harvard Yard. We’ve checked.
Harvard: After a slow morning we started out at Harvard to pick up the free tour. Of course the tour was suspended to the school was back in session in February. Tove Lise and I got on the tour with a map of Harvard, following the historical buildings as we went. But come on, buildings aren’t as fun as the stories they serve. A bit disappointing. However, the great Memorial Hall left a mark. That was simply a beautiful building. The rest of the tour kind of confirmed my expectations to Harvard: intellectual but a bit snobby. We had dinner at a nice little local cafe at Harvard Square,
The Cogs: Continuing our tourist tour we ended up at MIT Museum. It’s dedicated to science and innovation. Robotics, artificial intelligense and micro biology. A great exhibition. They even had an underwater simulator of a Rover (minisub) doing operations at Ormen Lange, the largest project in Norwegian history, The pictures were courtesy of Norwegian Hydro and it wouldn’t surprise me of part of the modeling of the simulator were made at Christian Michelsen Research, or what say you Daniel?
Boston at night: I should probably inform that we our place lacked a TV so we decided to buy a 32″ flat screen to fill out our crib. I’m watching Boston Bruins on NESN at the moment. Earlier we went to a pizza place down on Charles Street to eat. Excellent food! Later Tove Lise and I went to the top of Prudential Tower to have some drinks. What a beautiful view of Boston by night! From the 52nd floor you can see miles in each direction. Marvelous.
First thing in the morning I will upload my pictures for you. Stay tuned:
Top three facts about Harvard:
- School was founded by John Harvard
- Olderst University of all USA (1632)

Nå må jeg bare korrigere deg litt. Dersom du leser om statuen på Harvard (Three Lies), så vil du huske at John Harvard ikke var founderen. Men den første som gav en “big contribution” (tror det var uttrykket i kartet vårt) til universitetet.
