Estimating is a dangerous business. Projects become unprofitable, people get fired and developers rack up stress and work-related injuries because of inaccurate estimations. Still, the software business relies on it, budgets are planned by it and people get hired because of it. And on top of it all, there’s no class in Computer Science 101 that tells you how to do it.
